HUGE NEWS - NCXS @ PACC

Posted on 9 May 2012 by Webmaster  |

Huge news from the national body Cycling Australia today.  The pilot National Cyclo-Cross Series is coming to rAdelaide on 11/12 August (Melburn = 14/15 July, Sideney= 28/29 Sept), and the Technical Regulations that some of the PACC CX Crew spent quite a bit of time on with other similar-minded 'cross nerds across Oz were also ratified!  So book those flights, or get ready for a road trip and when you have some quiet time read the new Australian Tech Regs (rules) here .

Race 3 on Tuesday night 17 Jan!

Updated on 16 January 2012 by Webmaster  |

A whole bunch of people were schooled up on the finer points of CX on Saturday by Jorg Arenz - German Elite cyclocross champion 1998-99 - thanks to FOCUS BIKES Australia. Focus have got a great showcase of bikes on display at the Santos Tour Down Under Village including the Carbon CX2.0 Mares hanging up on the wall, go in and pay them a visit.

The course map is up for tomorrow night.  If you have some old bike stuff you no longer want, bring it out as there will be a Buy, Sell & Swap meet on too, or if you're looking to pick up some cheap stuff bring a wad of cash!  Express Cargo Services have sponsored the Treasurer's Treasure - a mystery 1st lap BEER preme for CX A and B. Entries will close off online Monday night at about 11pm so get your entries in ASAP if you want to make our life easier, otherwise roll up on the day and enter.  Remember to bring your licenses as it's the first PACC race of the year....   ENTER RACE 3.

NOTE RE HOT WEATHER POLICY: We may delay the start of the races tomorrow night by 20-30mins, and modify/shorten the races to minimise the impact of the likely extreme hot weather.  Please remember to bring and drink plenty of water and stay in the shade (there is water available on site too).

Go Lewi!

Incase you're wondering how far we have come in Australia in cyclocross, out of the Dirty Deeds CX series in Melbourne has emerged CX Athlete Lewis Rattray - who embarks on an ambitious campaign in Europe today by being the second-ever Australian to race in a CX World Cup with several other top-shelf races incuding the World Champs to come.  Follow him on his blog !  He races the Zolder World Cup race today... Good luck Lewi!

Also, links to three albums from this month's CXtwiLITE have been added to the results .

CXtwiLITE Race 2, done and dusted

Posted on 14 December 2011 by Webmaster  |

We're still coughing up dust but we have managed to put the results up for last night here. As usual, nearly every spectator seemed to have a camera and several riders had on-board cameras, so if you want to share (and we want you to!) please email cx@pacc.org.au send us a link to your album or video so we can update the results with your input!

Sponsors!

Get excited FOCUS CXtwiLITE is only a fortnight away!

Without Port Adelaide CC's sponsors the events would be a lot less fun and there'd be a lot less to race for, so support the sponsors that support YOU.  You don't have to be fast to win big, again the majority of prizes will be awarded randomly.   If you think you can join the sponsor list for this summer's CX, email us cx@pacc.org.au.

Focus Bikes Australia are continuing their amazing support of the club and cyclocross generally - they're bringing in FOUR cyclocross-specific bikes into Australia for 2012, landing on our shores very soon!  Every CX and Open race participant this summer again will go in the draw to win a FOCUS MARES AX2.0!  Like this? Like FOCUS Bikes Australia on Facebook!

Fittingly Knog is throwing their support to the series, makers of safety lights, luggage, apparel and other good stuff - you'll need their bike lights to ride home from our races this summer. Visit their site here, you can buy up good stuff online.

Champion System Australia supply Port Adelaide CC with all our technical apparel literally from head to toe, and even the number you pin on your back.  This summer there will be some extra kit to give away!  If you're thinking of making some custom kit, there's only one place to start... Champion System. (Or, just buy some PACC kit!)

Girls night out

Posted on 7 November 2011 by Webmaster  |

Last week we had our first of this summer's training sessions - for women only -  and the session was oversubscribed in under 24hrs.  Supercoach Neil had all the women tackle mulch hill 90mins into the session and despite a few low speed prangs there were smiles all 'round!  Here's a video showing some of the skills picked up (and everyone likes watching crashes on youtube).

The end of series presentation for FOCUS CX & The City and PACC winter track was held at Edwardstown footy club recently, and incorporated Roller Frenzy IV sponsored by B.-d. Farm Paris Creek and the Winter Series' prize draw for the FOCUS AX2.0 cyclocross bike.  The bike was won by none other than Jade Lean!  It was then an all-girls affair in the final Frenzy with 'crossers and track riders Amanda 'Buns of Steele' and Lee-Anne 'Wanahuckalugie' Fleming going head to head in the final.  It's amazing how fast people will spin to win large chunks of cheese.  'Buns' is the first back-to-back winner in Frenzy History:

It's official... CXtwiLITE ! :-)

Updated on 11 October 2011 by Webmaster  |

CXtwiLITE is coming...with 50% of the course and full flavoured CX fun.  We will return to the Adelaide Park Lands with some summer format racing on Tuesday evenings on 22 Nov, 13 Dec, 17 Jan and 14 Feb to keep your legs strong and your footwork fancy this summer.

We can also confirm that  the end of season presentation will be kicking off on Friday 21 October upstairs at Edwardstown Velodrome (East Tce, South Plympton).  Grab a brew or five and kick back on the balcony and see some fast and furious track action on the velodrome proper from 6:30pm, then get your best heckle out and join in the fun for PACC/South Coast Cycling's Roller Frenzy IV from about 7:45.  We will be drawing the FOCUS MARES AX2.0 cyclocross bike for some lucky CX punter during the evening - plenty of people are banking on winning, will it be you?

If you go back and watch some of the video from the first CX race in April, and compare it to the highlights of last you'll notice there was an improvement in speed and skill pretty much right across the board, from the pointy end of A-grade right through to the back of B-Grade.  At PACC's first Summer Track event last night those who had done a bit of 'cross' training in the winter had a distinct advantage over those who had been in winter hibernation...

To help people get more of a 'leg up' Neil Ross has offered to run a series of training sessions, from basic cross skills (suitable for someone on any bike who hasn't even watched a CX youtube video yet) right through to classroom sessions on how to actually 'train' for CX.  An opportunity to get coached by one of the world's best doesn't come along very often, so for those of you on Facebook head over and answer this question.  If not, use this poll on PACC's forums.

Scorcher...

The weather was hot. The racing was hot. The BBQ and coffee was hot. It was all good.

The photos are starting to roll in - see the results  here for an updated list of links.  Stay tuned for details of the FOCUS CX & The City series presentation night which will be a chance to both spin up, laugh and unwind at the same event - with the return of PACC's famous Roller Frenzy.

In the mean time enjoy cutting a few laps with a helmet cam view c/- Select Physiotherapy :
